Since 2017, our community has been voluntarily donating time and money to organize our events and workshops. We’ve been primarily based in NYC and need resources to expand our events nationally and in the Philippines. These funds will also help pay artists and collaborators for the important value they provide.

The Importance of
Community Spaces

Community spaces are the heart and soul of our initiatives.

Whether it’s through virtual or in-person educational workshops where artists get to talk about the mindset behind their work, or physical event locations where people meet up and discuss shared cultural experiences and struggles, Tagalikha provides platforms that serve as fertile ground for nurturing creativity, creating meaningful interactions, and fostering a sense of belonging. Through these spaces, we have witnessed the transformational power of creative expression, as it provides an avenue for collective healing, understanding, and growth.

“As an artist and creative, I couldn’t help but express my gratitude for Tagalikha. They act as a hub for making meaningful connections and continue to produce soul-enriching events and content which brings together Filipinos and people from all walks of life.”

“With Tagalikha, I found a tribe that celebrated my defiance. The space they foster is lush. It is warm, open and it is genuine. The connections I made through their events and community makes me feel like home.

Thank you Tagalikha for asking thought-provoking questions, and giving me a voice!”

“I’m very thankful to Tagalikha for giving me space to talk about the less glamorous aspects of pursuing a creative career that I wouldn’t normally be able to publicly speak about… From the pre-event kamayan (family meal) to the post-event meet and greet, it was clear that everything revolved around a genuine effort to build community.”

Who we are

Tagalikha creates community spaces of art, joy and reflection for Filipinos to explore their cultural identity through the lens of creativity. Since 2017, we’ve been a self-funded volunteer-led organization of creatives who have come together with a shared vision: through Tagalikha, Filipinos globally will be empowered to use creativity beyond optics, wielding it as a tool to take actions of solidarity across physical and cultural borders. To create connections to home, wherever they are in the diaspora.

We started as a blog, aimed to be a platform for Filipinos to share the stories of success and struggle from pursuing a creative path. In 2020 as the world changed and the needs of the creative community along with it, we pivoted into intentional activities with the purpose of empowering Filipinos globally to connect with their roots. Today, we continue to do this by focusing on providing community spaces where creatives can meet, discuss, and explore together.

Our Initiatives:

With the generous support of individuals like you, we plan to cultivate these community spaces even further and expand our reach to more corners of the world. The funds raised will be channelled into the following initiatives:

  • We aim to continue organizing a series of enriching workshops that cover various aspects of Filipino culture, including traditional art forms, language, music, dance, and cuisine. Creators who lead the workshops will always get paid their value, but the goal is to have enough funding so these workshops will be open to all, encouraging participation from diverse backgrounds.

  • Our events are thoughtfully designed to foster unity and solidarity within the Filipino diaspora and beyond. By bringing people together, we aspire to facilitate spaces where people can share their stories, connect with each other, and find people with aligned creative expressions. Through this, we can create a global network of empowered Filipinos, equipped with creativity as a powerful tool for positive change.

  • In 2022, we created an archival art book compiled with thoughts and ideas from three virtual workshops exploring language, cultural appropriation and the definition of what makes art ‘Filipino’. It also includes commissioned artwork from 9 Filipino artists, who further explored these themes from their own unique point-of-view.

  • As part of our commitment to nurturing creativity, we seek to support budding Filipino artists by providing them with mentorship, resources, and opportunities to showcase their work.
